Tell people about you're car such as Year of Purchase, Present Condition etc, any interesting history? (optional)
Bought it in 1998 from a man in Boscombe, Dorset I think I paid around £475 for it, Upon starting to drive it home I realised at 6' 3" I was too big for an X1/9!!!
Needed quite a bit of work doing on it to tidy it up. My dad had to remake the screen surround and do some welding on the suspension turrets as they were corroded, There may have been a few other small bits that were done, The car was given a partial respray as the lacquer was peeling in a few places.
To allow me to be able to get in and out of the car!!!! The seatbelt reel was moved into the spare wheel well behind the driver's seat to allow the seat to move back a few more inches, The steering wheel was chopped up just leaving the boss in place then welding a spare steering wheel from a power boat in its place!! This allows someone of my height to sit comfortably and even jump in it without opening the doors.....
I had the seats re trimmed in cream vinyl (only the finest)
I had this car for around two years until it was attacked by a wall leaving the driver's side front wing rather flat and doing a bit of damage to the suspension at the same time, I left the car at a family friends farm for around a year

(it was drivable but the front wing was made entirely of body filler unsmoothed and sprayed silver from a can... And on the floor pan was attached a piece 1/2" steel plate which was part of a hasty repair to make it driveable so I could get from Lancashire to Dorset back home)

After a year I was going to collect it only to be told it had been scrapped, But about 6 months or more after that I got a letter from the DVLA saying somebody was trying to register the car, So I am hoping the car survived, By that point I had another X1/9 anyway and have had another 1 or 2 since then I can never recall!
Previous Cars You've Owned, Again please list any registration numbers you can remember, maybe you owned my car before me!
VYB 760W - Fiat X1/9 1500
Silver with Maroon Vinyl Side Stripe, Colour Coded Targa Top.

D829 CEO - Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 - Black with after market rear wing. Magnex Backbox, Did have tinted windows when purchased but removed due to lack of visibility at night.

C255 DYT - Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 - White

In total I have owned
3 205 GTI's
3or4 X1/9's
Renault 5GT Turbo
3 Mk2 XR2's
Fiat Uno Turbo
And countless Peugeot 405's and other random cars............
Sadly I can't really remember the details of most of these and I have never been one to take photo's.
And a MK1 Escort RS1600 that turned out to be a Mexico but thats another story!
